A1. What are Treasure Trails or Clues? (top)

Treasure Trails (Clue Scrolls) were introduced in RuneScape starting withversion 2. It is sort of a mini-quest in which you turninto a treasure hunter, following subtle clues. When you find thefinal treasure location you can get rare armor and equipment or other usefulitems.

To start your treasure hunting you need to obtaina Clue Scroll which is arare monster drop. Only some monsters drop clues.

Treasure Trails are members only feature. However, some rewards can be used by both f2p'ers and p2p'ers.There exist 3 levels of clues, the higher the level the better the treasure!

A5: What special items are f2p? (top)

Out of all special clue-only items f2p players can buy from p2p players and useall the trimmed and god armor.

A6: I already have a clue in my bank. Can I get anotherone? (top)

No you can't. You can have only one clue at a time. Complete your clue ordrop it to have a chance of getting a new one.

A7: I got some... coordinates(?!) What to do with them? (top)

Coordinates specify the location in Runescape where a casket is buried - youhave to dig it out. The coordinates are measured in degrees and minutes. In eachdegree there are 60 minutes. So if a clue says "8 degrees 30 minutes North" it means that you first must walk8 degrees to the North, then another 30 minutes.

In order to solve coordinates clues you need to have a sextant, a watch, and a navigation chart with you. If you don't have them yet than with your clue in inventorygo talk to the observatory professor, ask something about treasure trail, he'll tell you to get theother 2 items. Go get them (see the list below), then go back to professor to getthe navigation chart.

  • Sextant - Murphy the trawler sailor in Port Khazard
  • Watch - Monk (Brother Kojo) in the Clock Tower
  • Navigation Chart - Observatory

Now get a spade, use the sextant to find the location specified by yourcoordinates and dig there to get a casket. Well, it is at least how it was meantto be. Since you have RSDemon go to the Coordinates section, enter yourcoordinates in four fields, and voila - you have the location .

For those that choose the hard way: how to use your sextant? It'ssimple. To find out what your location is, simply click on the sextant (while having the watch and the chart in your inventory), then adjust it(clicking on arrows) so that the horizon and the sun are in the middle of the glass-thing. Then click on GetLocation and your current location will be displayed on the screen.

A8: Are Treasure Trails safe? (top)

Well, not all of them. The higher the level of a clue the greater is the riskinvolved. Level 1 clues are pretty safe. For level 2 clues some digginglocations are inhabited by aggressive monsters like level 44 Jungle Spiders. Thereal fun starts with level 3. Here many clues lead you to dangerous partsof  Wilderness. When digging in Wilderness you *will* be attacked by alevel 86 Zamorak Wizard - so better have "Protect from Magic" prayerready. Even more dangerous are coordinate clues in  normal areas - hereyou'll be attacked by a Saradomin Wizard (level 108) who will attack you 20swith magic AND with a poisoned dagger. Use "Protect from Melee" andwear good magic armor!
